How We Started
In 1953 Sedberry’s Music was located in the outer limits of Phoenix Arizona. In 1958 the store was renamed Central Music. Roy Hamasaki, who has been at the store since 1958 says, “We have seen the city grow up around us.” Central Music is still located at the same location, now considered near the heart of Phoenix’s downtown. |

What Do We Carry?
We carry a wide variety of printed music, DVD’s, instruments and accessories spanning many genres including rock, blues, country, sacred, classical, opera, jazz, folk, world, gypsy, and others. Instructors will like our variety of methods and supplemental materials, as students and players will love our selection of music arranged for all playing levels.
We have methods for the "never played before" beginner to advanced theory, harmony, improvisation and composition for just about every instrument including didgeridoo, oud, and concertina. Many play-along books that come with accompaniment CDs to aid the practicing or performing musician. Even sing-along books for singers as well as full vocal scores and selections for opera, Broadway and movies. Our instructional DVD section is large and our software section keeps growing and growing. There are many accessories available here for brass, woodwind, string, and percussionists. Some are a little less visible than others so don’t hesitate to ask if there is something you were looking for that you cannot find. Any of us will be more than happy to help you. Our books are well organized to aid you in your shopping experience, but again, please ask if there is something you cannot find. |

Preston
Preston has been working at Central Music for about 3 years. He has been playing guitar for over 20 years (and practiced for about 3 years since most of the music was punk or garage). Now a world music enthusiast, he performs with two bands. One a Japanese 60's band called Showa 7 (who has performed at the Phoenix Matsuri), which consits of Japanese language songs from Japan's "group sounds" era with some enka mixed in, and the other Soleil Noir, experimental world fusion. |
